In recent years, I have experienced a considerable amount of bereavement and loss. As an executive leader I was experiencing burnout, yet I continued to wear “the mask” that showed everyone I was ok. I was not ok. I was anxious about lots of stuff, compounded by the fact I did not want anyone to see how I was really feeling. I felt alone. It made me question what I wanted out of life.

So I embarked on a journey which would not only develop my skills to be a counsellor, but also lead to personal discoveries. It was a special period of time when I found myself and allowed myself to be seen by others.

I know how hard it is to make that initial contact with a counsellor, particularly if you have never had counselling before. Before my first session with a counsellor, I was anxious about how they would be with me and what they would think of me. I will make you feel at ease straight away. I don’t judge - I listen and understand.

I am passionate about my work as a counsellor. To be able to help others find their way, like I have done, is a real privilege.

ABOUT ME

Routes to Wellness: The Origins

Routes to Wellness started with a simple belief: everyone deserves support on their journey to better health and wellbeing. I saw that many people were falling through the gaps, unsure where to turn for help that truly made a difference. Wellbeing and mental health are very much in our minds nowadays, but taking the first step to make changes can be daunting and even frightening.

So, I decided to create a holistic service that’s built around real lives, not tick-boxes. Originating with quality face-to-face and online counselling (Rob Upton Counselling) , Routes to Wellness is growing, with a new partnership with Wild Rose Yoga commencing very soon, and plans to create wellness retreats in the near future.

From day one, our focus has been on listening, understanding, and walking alongside people as they find their own way to feeling better, stronger, and more connected. Routes to Wellness isn’t just about services - it’s about people, relationships, and the small steps that can lead to big changes.
